Cooking, Art & Music

Cooking at Honeybees

Laura and Sammy are our resident cooks and helps provide practical experiences that incorporate maths, reading, fine-motor skills and a concept of science.

The process is much more valuable than what the end result looks like as the children are encouraged to taste and experiment with fresh ingredients which include herbs and vegetables from our garden. We encourage favourite recipes from home and although we promote healthy eating at all times, we are still partial to a home-baked scone with home-made jam! Yum!

Art & Crafts at Honeybees

Emma and Brigit are the most wonderfully talented artistic practitioners who fully embrace the creative side in all the children. They often use nature as a resource and allows all the children to experiment with different media and materials.

Emma is an advocate of the child-led approach whereby all children can produce artwork which is totally unique to their creative self. No ‘cut outs’ and pre-made stencils at Honeybees! Brigit loves to help children connect through messy play activities.

Music & Dance at Honeybees

Katie is our very talented music-maker and the children flock around her as she gets them interested in expressing themselves in fun and (often) noisy ways! Katie is a children's music and dance teacher who provides regular music sessions with all the children, merging movement and music to support all areas of learning. All of Katie's dance and music sessions are fun and energetic and staff look forward to these as much as the children!

Katie uses visuals and other play resources to capture attention and involvement is always high. There is a skill in getting a group of super-excited children to ‘calm’ within seconds whilst they engage in rhythm and rhyme.

Please do come and see us at work, meet our existing children and see what Honeybees can offer you and your child.
